Pyrrosia vacua Rondani, 1861
status

Pyrrosia vacua Rondani, 1861

ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1861e: 64 (key), 67 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in collibus et planitie agri parmensis [ Parmese hills and plains ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 2 ♂♂, syntypes (one covered with mold, the other very moldy, missing left fore-, both mid-, and left hind-legs) ( MZUF: Box 15): Pyrrosia Rnd. / vacua Rnd. , ♂ / 800; 1 ♀, syntype (missing right fore- and left mid-legs) ( MZUF: Box 15): Pyrrosia Rnd. / vacua Rnd. , ♀ / 800.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Solieria vacua ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 344, Pape et al. 1995: 27, Cerretti 2010: 399, O’Hara et al. 2020: 697).

REMARKS: Rondani (1861e: 67) described both sexes of Pyrrosia vacua without specifying the exact number of specimens and not giving a range of lengths, but presumably from more than one specimen because he wrote: “ non raro [not rare]”. We found three syntypes in this study.
