ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1859b: 41 (key), 43 (description).
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Apennino parmensi [ Parmese Apennines ( Italy)]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, syntype (covered with mold) ( MZUF: Box 9): Cnephalia Rndn. Schin. / montana Rnd. , ♂ / 474.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Spallanzania multisetosa (Rondani, 1859) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 262, Cerretti 2010: 299).
REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 43) described Spallanzania montana from just the male sex, without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length: “ Mas … Semel a me captus [Male … Collected by me once]”. We found one syntype in this study.
