ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1870c: 122 (key), 126 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Apennino parmensi [ Parmese Apennines ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype (abdomen in a microvial pinned below specimen) ( MZUF: Box 31): Oxyna Desv. / guttella Rnd., Apenn. [= Apennines] / 1640 / holotype Oxyna guttella Rondani , ♂, det., B. Merz, 1991 /? Paroxina achyrophori (Loew) , det., I.M. White, 1986.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Paroxyna achryrophori (Loew, 1869) ( Foote 1984: 113) ; valid species, as Campiglossa guttella ( Merz 1994: 45, Belcari et al. 1995b: 10, Norrbom et al. 1999: 111).

REMARKS: Rondani (1870c: 126) described Oxyna guttella from just the female sex, without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens: “ Rarissimo lecta foemina tantum [the female collected only rarely]”. We found one syntype in this study.
