TYPE LOCALITY: “ Insula S. Sebastiani [ San Sebastian Island ( Brazil)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, lectotype (missing head) ( MRSN: Box 1755): Syrphus Fab. / albitarsis Rndn., Ins. S. Sebastiani / Syrphus albitarsis Rond, 1850: 166 , Ins . S. Sebastiani.

CURRENT STATUS: junior primary homonym of Syrphus albitarsis Meigen, 1822 View in CoL and senior synonym of Syrphus rondanii Goot, 1964 View in CoL ( Goot 1964: 215, Thompson et al. 1976: 37); junior synonym of Ocyptamus gastrostactus ( Wiedemann, 1830) ( Thompson, 2019: 127) View in CoL .

REMARKS: Rondani (1850c: 166) described Syrphus albitarsis from just the male sex, without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, from material received from E. Truqui. Goot (1964: 215) proposed the replacement name Syrphus rondanii for S. albitarsis Rondani, 1850 , name preoccupied by Meigen (1822: 290). Thompson (2019: 155) designated the MRSN specimen as lectotype female.
