ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1875c: 461.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ Insula Bonae Fortunae (Borneo) , Provincia Sarawak [ Bona Fortuna Island , Sarawak Province, Borneo]” ( Rondani 1875c: 421) .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype ( MSNG): Haematopota asiatica Wied. , n. 75 / Borneo, Sarawak, 1865–66, Coll. Doria .

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Haematopota javana Wiedemann, 1821 ( Stone 1975: 76) View in CoL .

REMARKS: Rondani (1875c: 461) described Haematopota asiatica from just the female sex, without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens, from material collected by G. Doria and O. Beccari. Rondani attributed the species name to Wiedemann. Guiglia (1957) and Raineri & Rey (1996) did not mention this nominal species. We found one syntype in this study.
