ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1868b: 39.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ Mendoza ( Rio Piceuta ) [Mendoza (Piceuta River) ( Argentina)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype ( MZUF: Box 71): Dichelacera nubipennis Rnd., Am. M. [= South America] / Type D. nubipennis Rnd., C.B. Philip, 1964 / Dasybasis minor (Macquart) , det. Coscarón, 1966 / [no identification number ].

CURRENT STATUS: valid species ( Fairchild 1971: 74, Coscarón & Papavero 2009: 91).

REMARKS: Rondani (1868b: 39) described Dichelacera nubipennis without specifying the number , the sex or the length of the specimens, from material received from P. Strobel. Philip (1965a: 122) and Fairchild (1971: 74) each reported a single type specimen (♀) in the MZUF. We also found one syntype in this study.
