REMARKS: name that Rondani (1844b: 201) proposed as a synonym of Ferdinandea cuprea (Scopoli, 1773) and not made available by use as a valid species before 1961. Verrall (1901: 107), Bezzi & Stein (1907: 139), Kertész (1910: 323), Sack (1932: 419) and Peck (1988: 122) considered Cheilosia testacicornis as a “ nomen nudum published in synonymy with Ferdinandea cuprea ”. O’Hara et al. (2011: 215) incorrectly considered the name as available.
