TYPE LOCALITY: “ Mendoza ( Cruz de Caña ) [Mendoza (Cruz de Caña) ( Argentina)]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype (missing right hind-leg) ( MZUF: Box 71): Agelanius interpositus Rnd., Am. M. [= South America] / Type A. interpositus Rnd., C.B. Philip, 1964 / Dasybasis chilensis (Macq.) , det. Coscarón, 1966 / [no identification number].
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Dasybasis chilensis (Macquart, 1838) View in CoL ( Fairchild 1971: 38, Coscarón & Papavero 2009: 71).
REMARKS: Rondani (1868b: 38) described Agelanius interpositus from just the female sex, without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens, from material received from P. Strobel. Philip (1965a: 122), Coscarón & Philip (1967: 88) and Fairchild (1971: 39) reported a single type (♀) in the MZUF. We also found one syntype in this study.
