ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1863: 22.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ Nov. Hollanda [New Holland (= Australia)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype (very moldy) ( MZUN: Box Muscidae M02, 16): Dexia brevipalpis Rnd., N. Olanda / M. Zool. N° 11959.

CURRENT STATUS: secondary homonym and junior synonym of Senostoma brevipalpe ( Macquart, 1846) ( Cantrell & Crosskey 1989: 741) .

REMARKS: Rondani (1863: 22) described Dexia brevipalpis , without specifying the number , the sex or the length of the specimens, from material received from L. Bellardi. Costa (1866: 33) listed a single MZUN specimen numbered “675”. We also found one syntype in this study.
