CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Tachina casta ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 265, Pape et al. 1995: 23, Cerretti 2010: 304); valid species, as Tachina (Eudoromyia) casta ( O’Hara et al. 2020: 871) .

REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 53) described both sexes of Echinomya casta without specifying the exact number of specimens and not giving a range of lengths, but presumably from more than one specimen because he stated: “ non infrequens [not rare]”. We found eight syntypes in this study.
