Echinomya alpicola Rondani, 1861 View in CoL
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1861e: 157.
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Alpibus Insubriae [Insubrian (= Lombardy, Italy) Alps]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, syntype (missing right hind-leg) ( MZUF: Box 10): Echynomya [sic!] Dmrl / alpicola Rnd. , ♂, Alpi / 491 .
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Tachina praeceps Meigen, 1824 ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 270).
REMARKS: Rondani (1861e: 157) described Echinomya alpicola from just the male sex, without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens: “ mas inventus [the male found]”. Herting (1969: 190) reported one male in the MZUF. We found one syntype in this study. The MZUF also contains an additional (non-type) female.
