ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1861e: 57 (key), 58 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in collibus agri parmensis [ Parmese hills ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype (missing right mid-leg) ( MZUF: Box 15): Aphria Desv. / longilingua Rnd. / 794.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 336, Pape et al. 1995: 27, Cerretti 2010: 391, O’Hara et al. 2020: 678).

REMARKS: Rondani (1861e: 58) described Aphria longilingua from just the female sex, without specifying either the exact number or the length of the specimens: “ Semel foeminam legi [I collected the female once]”. We found one syntype in this study.
