ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1868a: 38.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Apennino parmensi [ Parmese Apennines ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, syntype (completely covered with mold) ( MZUF: Box 13): Exorista Mgn / vivax Rnd. / 660.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Phryxe nemea ( Meigen, 1824) ( Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 194) .

REMARKS: Rondani (1868a: 38) described Exorista vivax without specifying the number , the sex or the length of the specimens. We found one syntype in this study.
