ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1863: 15.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ Chiliae [ Chile]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype ( MZUN: Box Coll. entomol. extra-europea, Fam. Tachinidei - Gen. Dejeania a Belvosia ): Echinomyia [sic!] ignobilis Rnd. , Chili [= Chile] / M. Zool. N° 11319.

CURRENT STATUS: Guimarães (1971) did not list it; junior synonym of Tachina scutellatus ( Macquart, 1844) ( Evenhuis & Pape 2020) .

REMARKS: Rondani (1863: 15) described Echinomya ignobilis , without specifying the number , the sex or the length of the specimens, from material received from R.A. Philippi, to whom he attributed the species name. Costa (1866: 32) listed a single MZUN specimen numbered “659”. We also found one syntype in this study.
