ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1851: 365.
TYPE LOCALITY: “ Chile [ Chile]” ( Macquart 1844: 103) [type locality for Sarcophaga rufipes Macquart, 1844 ].
TYPE MATERIAL: see Remarks.
CURRENT STATUS: doubtful species of Sarcophaginae View in CoL ( Lopes 1969: 53, Pape 1996: 444).
REMARKS: Wiedemann (1830: 362) and Macquart (1844: 103) described two different species under the same name Sarcophaga rufipes . Consequently, Rondani (1851: 365) proposed the new replacement name Sarcophaga fulvicrus for Sarcophaga rufipes Macquart, 1844 . The type material for Sarcophaga fulvicrus will be the same as for the name it was proposed to replace, i. e., Sarcophaga rufipes . The holotype of this latter species is preserved in the MNHN (Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle 2020).
