ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1859b: 216 (key), 218 (description).
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Apennino agri parmensis … ab Insubria … ad Tergestum [Parmese Apennines … Insubria (= Lombardy) … Trieste ( Italy)]”.
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, lectotype ( MZUF: Box 14): Miltogramma Mgn / pilitarsis Rnd. , ♂, Tergest. [= Tergestum (= Trieste, Italy)] / 713 / Lectotype / Miltogramma M. pilitarsis Rnd., T. Pape det., 1986 / Miltogramma testaceifrons R., T. Pape det., 1986.
PARALECTOTYPES EXAMINED: 4 ♀♀ (one missing left mid-leg; one missing mid-legs; one missing both mid- and right hind-legs) ( MZUF: Box 14): Miltogramma Mgn / pilitarsis Rnd. , ♀, Tergest. [= Tergestum (= Trieste, Italy)] / 713 / Paralectotype.
PARALECTOTYPE NOT EXAMINED: 1 ♂ ( MZUF: Box D): Miltogramma pilitarsis R., 271, ♂ / 393 271.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Anacanthothecum testaceifrons (Roser, 1840) ( Verves 1986: 68, Povolný & Verves 1997: 70); junior synonym of Miltogramma testaceifrons (Roser, 1840) ( Pape 1988: 13, 1996: 117; Krčmar et al. 2019: 110).
REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 218) described both sexes of Miltogramma pilitarsis : “ Unicum masculum inveni in Apennino agri parmensis …, alterum ab Insubria misit olim D. De-Cristofori, et nuper uterque sexus a Doct. Schiner missus fuit, ad Tergestum inventus [I found a single male in Parmese Apennines …, Dr. De Cristofori formerly sent to me an additional one, and both sexes were sent by Dr. Schiner, found in Trieste]”. Pape (1988: 13) designated a lectotype (♂) and paralectotypes (4 ♀♀) but did not mention an additional specimen in the MZUF (this additional specimen is a paralectotype). A MZUF female from “Parma” is not included in the type series because it is not from the type locality.
