ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1880: 19.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ Parmae [ Parma (Italy) ]”.

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, holotype (terminalia in a microvial, part of a wing on a slide, part of the thorax in a plastic vial, all items pinned below specimen) ( MZUF: Box 36): Elachisoma Rnd. / atomus Rndn. / 1922 / Holotypus Elachisoma atomus Rond. , ♀, J. Roháček des., 1983.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Trachyopella atomus View in CoL ( Papp 1984d: 84, Canzoneri et al. 1995: 25, Roháček et al. 2001a: 282, Marshall et al. 2011: 283).

REMARKS: Rondani (1880: 19) described Elachisoma atomus from a single specimen: “ exemplar unicum coepi [I collected a single specimen]”.
