CURRENT STATUS: valid species ( Peck 1988: 126, Speight 1991: 8, Belcari et al. 1995a: 13).
REMARKS: Rondani (1844a: 64) described both sexes of Callicera spinolae without specifying the exact number of specimens and not giving a range of lengths: “ Mas valde foemina rarior [the male much rarer than the female]”. We found 15 syntypes in this study. Rondani (1843g: 375) proposed C. spinolae as new but without any description. Morge (1959b: 88) listed just one specimen in the MZUB; we found three.
