Sphaerocera curvina Rondani, 1880 View in CoL

ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1880: 15 (key), 16 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in agro parmense [ Parmese territory ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype (covered with mold) ( MZUF: Box 36): Sphaerocera Latr. / curvina n. / 1919 / holotype ♀ Sphaerocera curvina Rondani , labeled A.L. Norrbom, XII[.19]84 / Lotobia pallidiventris (Meigen) , det. A.L. Norrbom, 1984.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Lotobia pallidiventris (Meigen, 1830) View in CoL ( Papp 1984d: 71, Roháček et al. 2001b: 96).

REMARKS: Rondani (1880: 16) described Sphaerocera curvina without specifying either the number or the sex of the specimens, but giving a single measurement of length. Allen L. Norrbom labeled the single MZUF female as “ holotype ” but, as far as we know, he never indicated this specimen as holotype in any of his publication (A.L. Norrbom, pers. comm., March 2013). We consider it as a syntype because Rondani did not specify he had a single specimen.
