ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1856: 169.
TYPE LOCALITY: Rondani gave no type locality in his original description but presumably it is Italy because the work deals with Italian species .
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, syntype ( MRSN): 20 68 / Exodontha Bell. pedemontana Bell., M.te Rosa [= Mount Rosa (Piedmont)] / Ex. dubia (Zett.) Beris dubia Zett. Gen. Acanthomyia Schiner ; 1 ♀, syntype ( MRSN): 2 20 / Exodontha Bell. pedemontana Bell., M.te Rosa [= Mount Rosa (Piedmont)]; 1 ♀, syntype ( MRSN): Exodontha Bell. pedemontana Bell., M.te Rosa [= Mount Rosa (Piedmont)] / Exodontha dubia (Zett) .
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Exodontha dubia ( Zetterstedt, 1838) View in CoL ( Rozkošný & Zaitzev 1988: 48, Woodley 2001: 78).
REMARKS: Rondani’s (1856: 169) key for the genus Exodontha Rondani, 1856 lists Exodontha pedemontana as its type species, but he did not provide a detailed description, type locality, number or sex of the specimens. We found three syntypes in this study.
