ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1880: 21 (key), 28 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Italia superiore [northern Italy]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, lectotype (partially destroyed by the pin) ( MZUF: Box 36): Limosina Macq. / liliputana n. pygmea Zett. non Mgn / 1932 / Lectotypus Limosina liliputana Rond. , ♀, J. Roháček des. 1979.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species ( Papp, 1984d: 99); valid species, as Opalimosina liliputana View in CoL ( Roháček 1983: 140, Canzoneri et al. 1995: 24, Roháček et al. 2001a: 182, Marshall et al. 2011: 254).

REMARKS: Rondani (1880: 28) described Limosina liliputana without specifying either the number or the sex of the specimens, but giving a single measurement of length. Roháček (1983: 141) designated a lectotype (♀).
