ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1880: 24 (key), 40 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ prope Parmam [near Parma (Italy) ]”.

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype ( MZUF: Box 37): Limosina Macq / hirtula m. / 1957 / vagans Halid. = albipennis Dr. Villeneuve det.; 2 ♂♂, syntypes (partially destroyed by the pin) ( MZUF: Box 37): Limosina Macq. / hirtula m. / 1957.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Coproica hirtula View in CoL ( Papp 1984d: 82, Canzoneri et al. 1995: 22, Roháček et al. 2001a: 138, Marshall et al. 2011: 239).

REMARKS: Rondani (1880: 40) described Limosina hirtula without specifying either the number or the sex of the specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, despite there being three specimens in the type series found in this study. We consider these as syntypes.
