ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1880: 23 (key), 36 (description).
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Italia non lecta , … unum danicum; … secundum in Bohemia lectum [not collected in Italy, … one from Denmark; … a second specimen collected in Bohemia (= Czech Republic)]”.
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, lectotype (missing abdomen, right mid- and hind-legs, right wing broken, double-mounted: fastened by a micro pin to a polyethylene foam block on a standard insect pin) ( MZUF: Box 37): Limosina Macq. / fulviceps n. / 1950 / Lectotypus Limosina fulviceps Rond. , ♂, J. Roháček des. 1979 / Limosina ochripes (Meig.) , ♂, J. Roháček det.
PARALECTOTYPE NOT EXAMINED: 1 ♂ ( MZUF: Box 37): Limosina Macq. / fulviceps n. / 1950.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Limosina ochripes (Meigen, 1830) ( Papp 1984d: 101) ; junior synonym of Spelobia ochripes (Meigen, 1830) View in CoL ( Roháček 1983: 65, Roháček et al. 2001a: 254).
REMARKS: Rondani (1880: 36) described Limosina fulviceps from two specimens without specifying their sex: “ exemplaria duo speciei observavi, unum … olim a Clar. Staeger missum …; secundum … lectum a Clar. Kowartz [I observed two specimens, one formerly sent by Mr. Staeger … the other by Mr. Kowarz]”. Roháček (1983: 65) designated a lectotype (♂) but did not mention an additional MZUF male, also numbered “1950” (this additional specimen is a paralectotype).
