ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1880: 21 (key), 29 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Italia superiore et media [northern and central Italy]”.

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, lectotype (missing right fore-leg) ( MZUF: Box 36): Limosina Macq. / ciliosa n. zosterae ? Hal., setulosa? Zett. / 1935 / fulvipes Meig. sec. typ., = zosterae Hal. = ciliosa Rond., Dr. Villeneuve det. / Lectotypus Limosina ciliosa Rond. , ♂, J. Roháček des. 2000.

PARALECTOTYPES EXAMINED: 1 ♂ (abdomen in a microvial pinned below specimen), 2 ♀♀ (covered with mold, one missing head) ( MZUF: Box 36): Limosina Macq. / ciliosa n. zosterae ? Hal., setulosa? Zett. / 1935 / fulvipes Meig. sec. typ., = zosterae Hal. = ciliosa Rond., Dr. Villeneuve det. / Paralectotypus Limosina ciliosa Rond. , ♂, J. Roháček des. 2000 / Thoracochaeta zosterae (Haliday) , ♂, J. Roháček det. 2000.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Thoracochaeta zosterae (Haliday, 1833) View in CoL ( Papp 1984d: 86, Roháček & Marshall 2000: 341, Roháček et al. 2001a: 280).

REMARKS: Rondani (1880: 29) described Limosina ciliosa without specifying either the number or the sex of the specimens and not giving a range of lengths. Roháček & Marshall (2000: 342) designated a lectotype (♂) and paralectotypes (1 ♂, 2 ♀♀).
