ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1880: 22 (key), 31 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ Emilia [ Emilia (Italy) ]”.

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, lectotype (terminalia in a microvial pinned below specimen, missing right wing) ( MZUF: Box 37): Limosina Macq. / cilifera Rnd. / 1937 / Lectotypus Limosina cilifera Rond. , ♂, J. Roháček des. 1988.

PARALECTOTYPE EXAMINED: 1 ♀ (missing head) ( MZUF: Box 37): Limosina Macq. / cilifera Rnd. / 1937 / Paralectotypus Limosina cilifera Rond. , ♀, J. Roháček des. 1988.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Leptocera cilifera ( Papp 1984d: 91, Canzoneri et al. 1995: 23); valid species, as Rachispoda cilifera View in CoL ( Roháček et al. 2001a: 228, Marshall et al. 2011: 269).

REMARKS: Rondani (1880: 31) described Limosina cilifera without specifying either the number or the sex of the specimens and not giving a range of lengths. Roháček (1991: 122) designated a lectotype (♂) and paralectotype (♀).
