TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Italia superiore et media [northern and central Italy]”.

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, lectotype (covered with mold) ( MZUF: Box 36): Limosina Macq. / retracta n. / 1931 / Lectotypus Limosina retracta Rond. , ♂, J. Roháček des. 1979 / Limosina flavipes (Meig.) , ♂, J. Roháček det.

PARALECTOTYPES EXAMINED: 2 ♂♂ (covered with mold and partially damaged by the pin), 1 ♀ (covered with mold and partially damaged by the pin) ( MZUF: Box 36): Limosina Macq. / retracta n. / 1931 / Paralectotypus Limosina retracta Rond. , ♀, J. Roháček det. / Limosina flavipes (Meig.) , ♀, J. Roháček det.

PARALECTOTYPES NOT EXAMINED: 1 ♂ (covered with mold and partially damaged by the pin), 2 ♀♀ (covered with mold and partially damaged by the pin), 1 specimen (sex not determinable, missing head, abdomen moldy) ( MZUF: Box 36): Limosina Macq. / retracta n. / 1931 .

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Limosina flavipes (Meigen, 1830) ( Papp 1984d: 98) ; junior synonym of Telomerina flavipes (Meigen, 1830) View in CoL ( Roháček 1983: 134, Roháček et al. 2001a: 270).

REMARKS: Rondani (1880: 27) described Limosina retracta without specifying the number , the sex or the length of the specimens, but presumably from more than one specimen because he indicated: “ non raro lecta [collected not rarely]”. Roháček (1983: 134) designated a lectotype (♂) and paralectotypes (2 ♂♂, 1 ♀) but did not mention an additional four MZUF specimens (all are paralectotypes) numbered “1931”.
