ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1880: 22 (key), 34 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in colle et planitie ditionis parmensis [Parmese hill and plains ( Italy)]”.

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, lectotype ( MZUF: Box 37): Limosina Macq. / luteilabris m. / 1944 / Lectotypus Limosina luteilabris Rond. , ♂, J. Roháček des. 1979.

PARALECTOTYPE EXAMINED: 1 ♂ (slightly moldy, double-mounted: fastened by a micro pin to a polyethylene foam block on a standard insect pin) ( MZUF: Box 37): Limosina Macq. / luteilabris m. / 1944 / Paralectotypus Limosina luteilabris Rond. , ♂, J. Roháček des. 1979.

PARALECTOTYPE NOT EXAMINED: 1 ♂ (double-mounted: fastened by a micro pin to a polyethylene foam block on a standard insect pin) (MZUF: Box 37): Limosina Macq. / luteilabris m. / 1944 / Limosina rufilabris Stenh. , ♂, J. Roháček des. 1979.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species ( Papp 1984d: 100); valid species, as Spelobia luteilabris ( Roháček 1983: 87, Canzoneri et al. 1995: 24, Roháček et al. 2001a: 259, Marshall et al. 2011: 277).

REMARKS: Rondani (1880: 34) described Limosina luteilabris without specifying either the number or the sex of the specimens, but giving a single measurement of length: “ Specimina pauca Sp. vidi [I observed a few specimens of this species]”. Roháček (1983: 87) designated a lectotype (♂) and paralectotype (♂) but did not mention an additional MZUF male numbered “1944” (this additional specimen is a paralectotype).
