ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1868d: 575.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ It. Sup. Parmae [North Italy Parma (Italy) ]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype (partially covered with mold) ( MZUF: Box 4): Eumerus Mgn / fucatus Rnd. / 139 / Eumerus barbarus Coq. (= fucatus Rnd. ), det. M. Daccordi, 1994.

CURRENT STATUS: doubtful species of Eumerus Meigen, 1822 ( Peck 1988: 165) View in CoL ; junior synonym of E. barbarus Coquebert, 1804 View in CoL ( Belcari et al. 1995a: 14).

REMARKS: Rondani (1868d: 575) described Eumerus fucatus from just the female sex, without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens. We found one syntype in this study.
