TYPE LOCALITY: “ Sicilia [Sicily ( Italy)]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, lectotype ( MZUF: Box 6): Cheilosia superciliata Rndn. , Sicilia / Cheilosia latifacies Loew det. Claussen 1988 / 280 / Lectotypus Cheilosia superciliata Rond. , ♂, des. Claussen & Thompson 1996.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Cheilosia latifacies Loew, 1857 View in CoL ( Peck 1988: 107, Belcari et al. 1995a: 13); junior synonym of Cheilosia laticornis Rondani, 1857 View in CoL ( Claussen & Thompson 1996: 279).
REMARKS: Rondani (1868a: 30) described Cheilosia superciliata from just the male sex, without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens, from material received from F. Minà Palumbo. Claussen & Thompson (1996: 280) designated a lectotype (♂).
