ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1845e: 195 (key), 198 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in ditione Parmensis [Parmese territory ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype (missing right fore-leg) ( MZUF: Box 7): Chrysotoxum Mgn / parmense Rnd. / 358 / Chrysotoxum parmense Rnd. , det. M. Daccordi 1985; 1 ♀, syntype ( MZUB: Box 322): 21 35 / Chrysotoxum parmense Rond. , ex a. parmensi / parmense Rndn. , ♀, Parma .

CURRENT STATUS: valid species ( Peck 1988: 61, Belcari et al. 1995a: 9).

REMARKS: Rondani (1845e: 198) described Chrysotoxum parmense from just the female sex, without specifying the exact number of specimens and not giving a range of lengths. We found two syntypes in this study.
