REMARKS: Rondani (1866a: 205) described Caenosia agromizella , without specifying either the number or the sex of the specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, despite there being 11 specimens in the type series found in this study. We consider the 11 specimens as syntypes. Rondani described this nominal species under the generic name “ Caenosia ”, which is an incorrect subsequent spelling of Coenosia Meigen, 1826 ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 43).
