Caenosia infantula Rondani, 1866 View in CoL
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1866a: 194 (key), 197 (description).
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in agro parmensi etiam apennino [ Parmese territory and the Apennines ( Italy)]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: 3 ♂♂, syntypes ( MZUF: Box 24): Caenosia Mgn / infantula Rnd. , Parma / 1280.
CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Coenosia infantula View in CoL ( Pont 1986b: 206, Gorodkov et al. 1995: 16).
REMARKS: Rondani (1866a: 197) described Caenosia infantula , without specifying either the exact number or the sex of the specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, despite there being three specimens in the type series found in this study. We consider the three specimens as syntypes. An additional MZUF specimen numbered “1280” is not included in the type series because its label is yellowish rather than the greenish color of Rondani’s original handwritten ones and is in a lower row in the Box, for which reason we treat it to be a subsequent addition. Rondani described this nominal species under the generic name “ Caenosia ”, which is an incorrect subsequent spelling of Coenosia Meigen, 1826 ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 43).
