ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1856: 182.
TYPE LOCALITY: Rondani gave no type locality in his original description but presumably it is Italy because the work deals with Italian species .
TYPE MATERIAL: not found in this study.
CURRENT STATUS: doubtful species of Limoniidae ( Savchenko et al. 1992: 369) View in CoL .
REMARKS: Rondani’s (1856: 182) key for the genus Orosmya Rondani, 1856 lists Orosmya apennina as its type species, but he did not provide a detailed description, type locality, number or sex of the specimens. Savchenko et al. (1992: 369) and O’Hara et al. (2011: 206) incorrectly listed this nominal species as “ appennina ”. We could not locate any type specimens of this nominal species during our study.
