Sapromyza bisigillata Rondani, 1868 View in CoL View at ENA
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1868c: 239 (key), 250 (description).
TYPE LOCALITY: “ in Pedemontio [Piedmont ( Italy)]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype ( MRSN): 816 / [illegible word] / Sapromyza Fall. bisigillata Bell., Stura [= Stura Valley (Piedmont)]; 1 ♀, syntype ( MRSN): Sapromyza Fall. bisigillata Bell., Stura [= Stura Valley (Piedmont)].
CURRENT STATUS: valid species ( Papp 1984a: 213).
REMARKS: Rondani (1868c: 250) described Sapromyza bisigillata from just the female sex without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens: “ Rarissimo lecta foemina [The female collected rarely]” received from L. Bellardi, to whom he attributed the species name. Rondani (1868c: 250) erroneously listed this nominal species as a male but explicitly referred to a female in the description. We found two female syntypes in this study.
