ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1877c: 70 (key), 90 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in montuosis agri tirolensis [ Tyrolean mountains ]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, holotype (partially covered with mold) ( MZUF: Box 22): Aspilia Rnd. / rupestris Rnd. , Tirol. Mont. / 1164.

CURRENT STATUS: doubtful species of Thricops Rondani, 1856 ( Pont 1986b: 69) View in CoL ; junior synonym of Thricops longipes ( Zetterstedt, 1845) ( Gorodkov et al. 1995: 10) View in CoL .

REMARKS: Rondani (1877c: 90) described Spilogaster tirolensis from a single female: “ Faem. … Unicum specimen obtinui a Prof. Strobel [Female …. Single specimen received from Prof. Strobel]”. Rondani described this nominal species from a specimen of the type series of Aspilia rupestris Rondani, 1866 from “ Tirol [= Tyrol]”. See the species Aspilia rupestris .
