Yetodesia ruficrura Rondani, 1866

ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1866a: 94 (key), 101 (description).

TYPE LOCALITY: “ masculum pedemontanum [male from Piedmont ( Italy)]”. See Remarks .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype (missing right fore-leg) ( MZUF: Box 22): Yetodesia Rnd. / ruficrura Rnd. , Vienna / 1180.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Helina quadrinotata ( Meigen, 1826) ( Pont 1986b: 148, Gorodkov et al. 1995: 14).

REMARKS: Rondani (1866a: 101) described both sexes of Yetodesia ruficrura without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens: “ Marem pedemontanum a clar. Spinola obtinui, et foeminam a nob. Tacchetti missam observavi [I obtained the male from Piedmont by Mr. Spinola, and I observed the female sent by Mr. Tacchetti]”. We found one female from Vienna in the MZUF, which is presumably the specimen received from Tacchetti who had collected several species there ( Rondani, 1866a: 164). An additional MZUF male numbered “1180” from “App.” [= Apennines] is not included in the type series because it is not from the type locality. The male syntype has presumably been lost.
