ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1863: 30.
TYPE LOCALITY: “ Amérique méridionale [ South America ]” ( Macquart 1855a: 115) [type locality for Pyrellia rufipalpis Macquart, 1855 ] .
TYPE MATERIAL: see Remarks.
CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Morellia diversipalpis ( Pont 1972: 8) View in CoL .
REMARKS: Macquart (1851a: 225, 1855a: 114) described two different species under the same name Pyrellia rufipalpis . Consequently, Rondani (1863: 30) proposed the new replacement name Pyrellia diversipalpis for Pyrellia rufipalpis Macquart, 1855 . The type material for Pyrellia diversipalpis will be the same as for the name it was proposed to replace, i. e., Pyrellia rufipalpis Macquart, 1855 . For this latter species, Pont (2012: 86) designated a lectotype in the NHMUK.
