ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1866a: 191.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ in locis alpinis prope Oropam in Pedemontio [alpine locality near Oropa in Piedmont ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 2 ♀♀ (one of them is surely the holotype but is not labeled as such) ( MZUF: Box 24) with the following labels: 1 ♀, Oplogaster Rndn. / cincticula Rnd., Alpi / 1276; 1 ♀, Oplogaster Rndn. / cincticula Rnd., Alpi / 1276 / Varal. [= Varallo (= Vercelli, Piedmont, Italy), near Oropa].

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Coenosia mollicula (Fallén, 1825) View in CoL ( Pont 1986b: 208, Gorodkov et al. 1995: 16).

REMARKS: Rondani (1862d: 191) described Oplogaster cincticula from a single female: “ Unicam foeminam legi ” [I collected a single female] and then later (1877c: 249) indicated two females: “ Foeminas duas tantum inveni, unam in Alpibus pedemontanis, alteram in Apennino parmense [I found two females, one in the Piedmont Alps, the other in the Parmese Apennines]”. There are two females from the “Alps” in the MZUF without any label indicating their type status. We are unable to single out the one upon which Rondani based his description. We leave the recognition of the holotype to a future specialist .
