Lispa truquii Rondani, 1866 View in CoL

ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1866a: 212.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ Parmae … a Pedemontio [Parma … Piedmont ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 2 ♂♂, syntypes ( MZUF: Box 26): Lispe Latr. / consanguinea Lw , ♂, Pedem. [= Piedmont] / 1395; 1 ♀, syntype (partially eaten by dermestids) ( MZUF: Box 26): Lispe Latr. / consanguinea Lw , ♀, Pedem. [= Piedmont] / 1395.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Lispe consanguinea Loew, 1858 ( Pont 1986b: 186, Gorodkov et al. 1995: 15).

REMARKS: Rondani (1866a: 212) described Lispa truquii from two males and two females: “ Mares duos et foeminam unicam Parmae legi, et prius foeminam misit a Pedemontio eq. Truqui [I collected two males and a single female in Parma and Mr. Truqui previously sent one female from Piedmont]” separating it from Lispa consanguinea Loew, 1858 on the basis of a few characters. Rondani (1877c: 289) considered the former as a synonym of the latter. We did not find any specimen in the MZUF labeled “ L. truquii ”, but did find two males and one female labeled Lispa consanguinea . We consider these three specimens as the type series of Lispa truquii . Rondani described this nominal species under the generic name “ Lispa ”, which is an “incorrect subsequent spelling of Lispe Latreille, 1797 ” ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 106).
