CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Hydrotaea penicillata View in CoL ( Pont 1986b: 81, Gorodkov et al. 1995: 11).

REMARKS: Rondani (1866a: 82) described both sexes of Onodontha penicillata without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens that he had collected and also that he had received from F.M. Piccioli, G. Bertoloni and A. Costa. We found 12 syntypes in this study.
