Cyrthoneura capensis Rondani, 1863 View in CoL
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1863: 31.
TYPE LOCALITY: “ Cap. B. Spei [Cape of Good Hope ( South Africa)]” .
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype (very moldy, missing right wing) ( MZUN: Box Muscidae M02, 15): Cyrtoneura [sic!] capensis Rnd., C. B. Sp. [= Caput Bonae Spei (Cape of Good Hope)] / M. Zool. N° 11410.
CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Dimorphia tristis (Wiedemann, 1819) ( Pont 1980a: 745) View in CoL .
REMARKS: Rondani (1863: 31) described Cyrthoneura capensis from just the female sex, without specifying the exact number of specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, from material received from M. Spinola. Costa (1866: 34) listed a single MZUN specimen numbered “709”. We also found one syntype in this study. Rondani described this nominal species under the generic name Cyrthoneura ; in his index he (p. 94) wrote “ Cyrtoneura ”. Cyrtoneura and Cyrthoneura are each an “unjustified emendation of Curtonevra Macquart, 1834 ” ( O’Hara et al. 2011: 68).
