Opomyzidae View in CoL View at ENA

This family of acalyptrate flies contains 61, predominantly Palaearctic species ( Marshall 2012, Evenhuis & Pape 2020). Rondani (1875a) described three Palaearctic nominal species of Geomyza in his “ Stirps Loncheinae ”, rather than in the family Opomyzidae proposed by Fallén (1820). Soós (1984e) considered these as junior synonyms. The type material for all nominal species is in the MZUF and has been examined by Á. Soós and J.W.A. van Zuijlen, without either of the two publishing any results. Here, we designate a lectotype for Geomyza pictipennis Rondani, 1875 .
