TYPE LOCALITY: Rondani gave no type locality in his original description but presumably it is Italy because the work deals with Italian species .

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Triphleba hyalinata (Meigen, 1830) View in CoL ( Disney 1991: 200, Gori 1999: 141).
REMARKS: Rondani’s (1856: 136) key for the genus Triphleba Rondani, 1856 lists Triphleba hyemalis as its type species, and provides specific characters for the male and female but no detailed description, type locality, or number of specimens. We found 15 syntypes in this study.
