TYPE LOCALITY: “ in agro Tridentino [ Trento’s territory ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, holotype ( MZUF: Box 17): Ptilocheta Rndn. / bertolinii Rnd., Trento / 887 / holotype ♂, Ptilocheta bertolinii Rnd., T. Pape det., 1986 / Stevenia atramentaria (Mg.) , T. Pape det., 1986.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Stevenia atramentaria ( Meigen, 1824) ( Pape 1989: 356) View in CoL ; nomen dubium View in CoL in Stevenia Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 (Herting 1993: 114) View in CoL ; junior synonym of Stevenia atramentaria ( Meigen, 1824) View in CoL ( Peris & González-Mora 2007: 52; Cerretti et al. 2020: 97).

REMARKS: Rondani (1862d: 140) described Ptilocheta bertolinii from just the male sex, giving a single measurement of length: “ Semel marem misit D. De Bertolini [D. De Bertolini once sent the male]. Pape (1989: 356) considered the single male in the MZUF as the holotype. O’Hara et al. (2011: 155) considered Ptilocheta as an “unnecessary new replacement name for Ptilocera Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 ”.
