Pyrgotidae View in CoL View at ENA
This family of acalyptrate flies contains 358 predominantly tropical species ( Evenhuis & Pape 2020). In his “ Stirps Ortalidinae ”, rather than in the family Pyrgotidae proposed by Schiner (1868), Rondani (1875c) described one Oriental species, considered as valid ( Steyskal 1977d). The holotype is in the MSNG.
