ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1856: 179.
TYPE LOCALITY: Rondani gave no type locality in his original description but presumably it is Italy because the work deals with Italian species .
TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, syntype ( OUMNH Verrall-Collin Palaearctic Residues: Box 148.9): syntype / Type / Lyoneura lugubris Rondani type Parma / Lyoneura Rondani type / L. lugubris Ex. Coll. Bigot.
CURRENT STATUS: Wagner (1990) and Dahl et al. (1995) did not list it; valid species, as Lyoneura lugubris ( Evenhuis & Pape 2020) View in CoL .
REMARKS: Rondani’s (1856: 179) key for the genus Lyoneura Rondani, 1856 lists Lyoneura lugubris as its type species, but he did not provide a detailed description, type locality, number or sex of the specimens. We found one syntype in this study.
