CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Hemilucilia segmentaria ( Fabricius, 1805) ( James 1970: 7, Dear 1985: 127, Mac-Lean & González 2006: 18).

REMARKS: Rondani (1848b: 77) proposed Lucilia nubipennis for Musca segmentaria Fabricius, 1805 sensu Wiedemann (1830: 401) , which he considered a new species. Rondani referred to Wiedemann’s redescription of Musca segmentaria , which was based on an unspecified number of specimens, so the type material of Lucilia nubipennis Rondani is in Wiedemann’s collection (NHMW). Ten syntypes of this latter species are preserved in the NHMW (P. Sehnal, pers. comm., September 2019). Costa (1866: 33) listed a single MZUN specimen (as Somomyia [sic!] nubipennis ) (non-type) numbered “700” (Box Muscidae M02, 15).
