ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1862d: 178.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ prope Pisam [near Pisa ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype (missing left mid-leg) ( MZUF: Box 20): Eggisops Rnd. / pecchiolii Rnd., Etr. [= Etruria (Tuscany) ] / 1071.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species ( Schumann 1986: 20, Pape et al. 1995: 10).

REMARKS: Rondani (1862d: 178) described both sexes of Eggisops pecchiolii , “ Marem et Foeminam observavi in unico esemplare prope Pisam lecta ” [I observed one male and one female collected near Pisa], received from V. Pecchioli. We found just one female syntype in this study. The male specimen has presumably been lost.
