ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1873f: 299.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ Persia Sept. [northern Persia]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, holotype (left wing and all legs damaged) ( MSNG): Persia settent.e [northern Persia], 1862– 63, Coll. G. Doria / Typus / Anthrax erythrostoma Rndn. / Anthrax erytrostoma [sic!] Rndn. 1875, n. sp.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Desmatoneura erythrostoma View in CoL ( Zaitzev 1989: 125, Evenhuis & Greathead 1999: 516, 2015: 536).

REMARKS: Rondani (1873f: 299) described Anthrax erythrostoma , without specifying either the number or the sex of the specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, from material collected by G. Doria . Guiglia (1957: 194), Raineri & Rey (1996: 31) and Evenhuis & Greathead (1999: 516) reported the holotype (♂) in the MSNG.
