ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1863: 62.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ Chiliae [ Chile]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, syntype ( MZUN: Box Antracidei A 03,01): Anthrax corrigiolata Phil. , Chili [= Chile] / M. Zool. N° 11147 .

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Exechohypopion corrigiolatum View in CoL ( Evenhuis & Greathead 1999: 432, 2015: 451).

REMARKS: Rondani (1863: 62) described both sexes of Anthrax corrigiolata from specimens received from R.A. Philippi, to whom he attributed the species name. Costa (1866: 37) listed a single MZUN specimen (as Anthrax corrigiolata Phil. ) numbered “832”. We found just one female syntype in this study. The male syntype (s) is/are presumed lost. Evenhuis & Greathead (1999: 432) incorrectly assumed the single remaining female syntype in the MZUN to be a holotype.
